why make one chess set, when you can make two?

When I was working on the previous chess set, I got the idea of making a square and round set... and so here's the start:

new sculpting challenge...

as a quick start to the new sculpting challenge at the clubhouse I started work on this 'brain' from pinky and the brain.

based on this picture: https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzkGyRn48nLsDeempZto_oRNk7gExgDr0kyfBuVq8l20MHfDm-cl_n2c31hgcdq8ki_98mWD-lybRV1jvb9IJTr1DqmDAEi40j8sZEfItPzS7jfXtEKUIrAQLjfVF_goYHZXn_T36q-9A/s400/goodman02_PinkyBrain-01.jpg

chessset ... creating a new board.

It's been a while since I posted something and even longer since I worked on the chess set. So with new energy I decided to create new board as well. this one will be one solid piece (unlike the previous one, that you can fold up).

materials are whitewood, hardwood and a lot of glue :)

here are some pictures.
the raw materials:

cut and glued:

all dry the next morning:

sanded down nice smooth:

next steps:
- cutting the board to glue the strips on.
- cutting the edges for the board
- glueing it all together
- finishing touches.

iron man... the demise ???

Disaster struck this project. after detecting what seemed to be some type of mold I decided not to cover it with plastic on top of the wet towel. the result... the wet towel dried out a whole lot faster which end in disaster.

see for youself:

I'm afraid this will be the end of iron man, or at least in this form. BUT, I recently bought a styrofoam head, which will be the next starting point for this. it think I'll start from a plaster base now. So that at least the proportions are correct from the start.

portrait sculpt... nr 1.

Ok, long time since my last post. Here's my first real attempt at a likeness. unfortunatly the person this is based on wouldn't allow me to post a reference picture. So you'll have to do with pictures of the sculpture. The head is about 5cm which is aprox. 1/6 scale I presume.

enjoy....

ravenlord

alright folks, I've been saving this one until it was (nearly) finished. this latest piece was started for a sculping jam over at the clubhouse forum.

the wings are new and they still aren't attached yet that is why I'm holding them in the pictures.
